By My Standards Arrives in Louisiana
By My Standards, one of the most accomplished sons of Goldencents from the Into Mischief sire line, is coming to stand in Louisiana. A group of Louisiana horsemen, By My Standards Syndicate, has purchased the four time graded stakes winner from Spendthrift Farm in Lexington, Kentucky, and will be standing him in Northwest Louisiana. Details of where exactly he will stand and what his fees will be are yet to be determined.
His arrival immediately gives the state one of the leading young stallions in the country. With his first crop already making headlines, he enters Louisiana as the No. 1 second-crop stallion in the state.
On the racetrack, he earned more than $2.29 million, making him one of the highest-earning runners ever produced by the Into Mischief line. Only champions such as Laurel River, Authentic, Life Is Good, Mystik Dan, Mandaloun, and his sire Goldencents have earned more.
At three, he captured the $1 million Louisiana Derby (G2) going 1 1/8 miles in 1:49.53, the second-fastest Louisiana Derby in the race's long history. He defeated an outstanding field that included future Kentucky Derby winner Country House and future Preakness Stakes winner War of Will.
At four, he established himself as one of the premier older horses in America, winning the Oaklawn Handicap (G2), New Orleans Classic (G2), and Alysheba Stakes (G2). His Oaklawn Handicap time of 1:47.80 was the fastest in the race since Medaglia d'Oro in 2003. Along the way, he defeated some of racing's biggest stars, including Grade 1 winner McKinzie.
He proved he belonged with the very best, finishing second in the prestigious Whitney Stakes (G1) to Improbable and second in the Metropolitan Handicap (G1) after a troubled trip against an elite field that included Knicks Go.
In seven career victories, By My Standards defeated 28 graded stakes winners, including six Grade 1 winners, two Classic winners, and ten Grade 2 winners, while earning elite triple digit Beyer Speed Figures on at least four occasions.
Now, he is proving that his brilliance extends to the breeding shed.
His first runners have made an immediate impact. During 2025, By My Standards ranked among North America's Top 12 First-Crop Sires and Top 9 by individual winners, producing a dozen juvenile winners along with multiple black-type performers, including A Million Dreams and Kid Charlemagne. His first yearlings also attracted strong commercial demand, highlighted by a $200,000 colt, one of the highest-priced yearlings by any freshman sire at the Fasig-Tipton July Sale.
Industry experts have taken notice. As respected bloodstock agent Jimbo Gladwell recently said: "The one sleeper I have is By My Standards."
Goldencents, the sire of By My Standard, has the highest lifetime progeny earnings of any son of Into Mischief at stud, and has been among the leading sires of his generation since his first crop hit the track. By My Standards’ dam, A Jealous Woman (by Muqtarib), is a graded placed, multiple stakes winner of $469,956, as well as a stakes producer.
Louisiana has a rich tradition of producing elite racehorses, and By My Standards is poised to help write its next chapter. With championship bloodlines, elite race credentials, exceptional speed, proven toughness, and a first crop already outperforming expectations, he represents an incredible opportunity for breeders across the state.
