Fair Grounds Cuts Purses 10%, Cites Bad Weather

Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots has announced a 10% purse cut beginning with its Feb. 13 program. Daily Racing Form reported the purse decrease. The article stated horsemen were informed of the move via text messages sent Feb. 5.

Fair Grounds cancelled turf racing for four days after a Jan. 21 snowstorm. DRF reported that field size at the New Orleans track has dropped from 8.3 starters per race at this point last year to 7.8 during the current meeting.
