- STEVE ASMUSSEN TRAINEE RECORDS HER THIRD WIN IN A ROW –

VINTON, LA. – Delta Downs hosted the $100,000 Rosewater Stakes on Tuesday afternoon and the heavy favorite prevailed as Mo For Us took the win with jockey Paco Lopez in the saddle. It was the first stakes score for the Steve Asmussen trainee who is owned by William Heiligbrodt, Corrine Heiligbrodt and Jackpot Farm.

The Rosewater is a 7 ½-furlong test for Louisiana-bred fillies and mares and this year it was contested over a track listed wet-fast. The final running time for Mo For Us in the race was 1:33.23.

Soon after the field was dispatched in the Rosewater, Mo For Us hooked up with La Nina Dorado and the pair volleyed for the lead through fractional times of 24.56 seconds for the first quarter mile; 48.59 for the half mile; and 1:13.42 for three-quarters. As the field made the second and final turn of the race, Mo For Us began to edge clear of her determined rival but then had to deal with a fast closing Blessed Assurance.

Through the homestretch, Mo For Us held off the rally by Blessed Assurance and reported home 1-1/4 lengths in front. Nodah, another closer, rallied for third, another 1-3/4 lengths behind the runner-up.

Mo For Us has now notched five wins from 15 overall starts. She earned $60,000 for her effort in the Rosewater and now owns a bankroll of $281,795.
