The Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association (LTBA) is committed to supporting education by awarding scholarships to college students. At each of the Louisiana bred stakes days, the LTBA holds a drawing for at least two scholarships worth $1,000 each, providing significant financial assistance to students pursuing higher education.

Louisiana is the only state to have more than one state bred stakes day. Louisiana hosts a state bred stakes day at each of the four tracks in the state. The first of the year, Louisiana Premier Night was held Saturday, February 7th at Delta Downs. The lucky winners were Chloe Baldwin and Ava Grace Findley, both students at McNeese State University.

The next Louisiana Bred stakes day will be Louisiana Legends Night at Evangeline Downs, Saturday, June 6th.

Requirements for the scholarship are as follows:

  • Must be a college student enrolled full-time in an Accredited College, University or Community College.

  • Scholarships will be awarded by random draw.

  • Must be in good standing with the college or university.

  • Must be present to win at the Winner’s Circle when the announcement is made.

  • Must have college ID and government-issued ID.
